AMC 10 Summer Camp: Basics (Live virtual)
Virtual lectures via Zoom, June 23 - July 28, 15 lectures 6:00 - 7:30pm EST (exact dates are listed in the syllabus).
The course aims to provide students with rigorous training to efficiently focus on the key elements of the AMC 10 contests and develop crucial problem-solving skills. Dr. Shi's teaching approach emphasizes integrating various topics coherently, which simplifies complex concepts to be easier to grasp. Dr. Shi is especially sharp at identifying the “key” to solving difficult problems and helping students see through complex problems with ease. He often connects the keys and offers students a bigger picture of the underlying connection of these concepts. This rare quality in math instructions can lead to significant improvement over time, as students themselves gain the ability to solve difficult problems with ease.
AoPS Introduction to Algebra I, Intro to Geometry, Intro to Number theory, and Intro to Counting and Probabilities.
Targeted at the basic to medium AMC 10 problems (Question 1-17) in this camp. Students scored around 15 or above in AMC 8 will benefit the most from this camp.
Lecture Notes by Dr. Shi; Homework assignments from past AMC 10/12 competitions relevant to each topic and at the appropriate level of difficulty; Video solutions to homework assignments.
