Course Description

This course is designed to help students develop a strong foundation in geometry that will benefit both their school math curriculum and their competition preparation. While AoPS Introduction to Geometry is the primary textbook for the course, we have developed exclusive, enriched content that goes beyond the book, making this course distinct. The enriched content specifically designed by our experienced instructor is marked with a star (*) symbol in the Syllabus. Our expanded material can be particularly beneficial for students who aspire to participate in the AMC 10/12 and AIME competitions. Students who want to excel in their academic studies can also benefit from the expanded material by gaining a deeper understanding of the topics.

  • Prerequisite

Completion of the Introduction to Algebra 1 course or a similar program is recommended to ensure that students have the necessary Algebra skills. To maximize the benefits of this course, we recommend that students have a solid understanding of Algebra skills, such as solving linear equations, computing ratios, simplifying radicals and fractions, and solving and factoring quadratic equations prior to taking this course.

  • Textbook and Supplementary Course Materials

Required: Lecture notes; AoPS Introduction to Geometry Recommended: Intro to Geometry by Kumon; Geometry by Kumon

  • Targeted Level

For students looking to excel in school math curricula, we will cover most of the topics in the textbook to provide a comprehensive understanding of geometry. In addition, for those preparing for the AMC 10/12 competition, we have enriched the content in selected chapters to meet the specific requirements of the contests and build a solid knowledge base for AIME-level geometry.
