The Prealgebra course is divided into two parts, namely Introduction to Prealgebra 1 and Prealgebra 2, and this course covers the material from the second part. It is designed to help students develop a strong foundation in math that will benefit both their school math curriculum and their competition preparation. This course consists of twenty-two 1.5-hours lectures taught by Dr. Shi, along with weekly 1-hour homework review sessions led by a teaching assistant (with Dr Shi’s guidance). Students are expected to complete homework assignments after each lecture, and the review sessions will review the homework and provide additional support.
We recommend that students have completed an elementary school math curriculum or a similar program such as Beast Academy, covering grades 1-4, as well as Pre-Algebra 1, prior to enrolling in our program. This will ensure that students have a foundational understanding of mathematical concepts and skills needed for the program.

With more than 6 years experience of teaching AoPS prealgebra course, Dr Shi has developed his own curriculum to motivate students learning interesting and challenging math at a young age. Besides assignments from the textbook, supplementary worksheets are provided to give students sufficient training on basic concepts. In addition. Several in-class competitions with money prizes are in place to motivate students to work together solving fun math problems.
